Where were you on Sept. 11?

UPDATE: 121 entries later, looks like the map is about all wrapped up. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.

Supposedly, we’ll never forget. I was in my 8th-grade science class, and I still remember how the desk felt against my elbows as the principal came on over the loudspeaker, announcing that something had happened in New York.

Everyone has a 9/11 story to tell, and I’m proud to introduce an @mcall tool to help you share it.This interactive map geolocates users’ stories, linking them to a supplied address or region. Click a pinpoint to open a story; fill out the form beneath to tell your own. (Technical specs: This lightweight script uses a SQLite database to store entries and generates the map with the Google Maps API.)

I’m not the only person who thought of this, but I think we’re in good company. Much thanks to @mobilemcall, who spent hours making sure the script played nice with The Morning Call’s servers.
